Didactic material

In our courses we use the following didactic materials:

  • Materials developed by Intensive Business English specifically for language functions such as language of telephoning, meetings and presentations
  • The most up-to-date books on the market
  • Materials available online at our website

We strongly believe that just one course book simply isn t enough to cover the needs of all our students. We choose the didactic material best suited to the student based on what we learn from the students during the Needs Analysis before each course begins. Depending on the type of course (face to face, voice to voice, eLearning or blended), the needs expressed by the student (use of language related to business rather than relationship building), the cultural context in which the language is to be used (e.g. one specific country), the most appropriate didactic materials are chosen.

Should the material provided for the student not turn out to be the most ideal, our teachers are in a position to select alternatives from our ample range of resources available at the school which include specialist publications, materials specific to certain areas of English, to name but two.

A lot of emphasis is put on the use of audio and visual material to better develop oral comprehension.

One technique we often include in our lessons is the use of video recording, so that students can themselves judge their performances during a role play or a presentation. This method has proven to be extremely useful in helping participants find precisely which areas of their language they feel they need to perfect, such as pronunciation and intonation.
